The Thomas Lyell Centre, often referred to simply as The Lyell Centre or The Lyell, is a centre of forensic pathology located in London. It becomes one of the primary settings of Silent Witness in Series 4, after Sam Ryan accepts a professorship there. Sam was the head of the Centre for around four years, before leaving and being replaced by Leo Dalton. He was head of the Centre for eight years, until his untimely death. The current head of the Centre is Thomas Chamberlain. As of Series 16, The Lyell Centre has also branched out into other areas of forensic science.
